There are a variety of options for a sandpit. One could dig it into the ground and put a pyramid style lid (covered with shade-cloth) - this will keep the cats out.

The other option is for us to build a box, line it with cloth and fill it with sand. The lid could then be a wooden lid that will fold back. Bear in mind that the bigger the box the heavier the lid. POR
