Playhouse vs Jungle Gym or rather Playhouse and Jungle gym
Written by Justine Bertoldi
As all our clients are unique and have individual taste and preferences, I thought it would be a good idea to show people what is possible. The idea of having a Playhouse is to create an amazing space for children that will be their platform to endless hours of fun and games. Even the opportunity for when the family wants to go out although not necessarily go very far. We loved the evening we lit candles and torches in our 'Bakkie Playhouse' and went out for dinner (in the driveway). Everyone helped to create the ambience and atmosphere of the Exclusive Table in our Play House. All contributed to the service and clean up of the meal. We fell asleep with huge smiles on our faces that night.
What we are noticing more and more are the possibilities of creating not only a Playhouse or only a Jungle Gym, but to actually incorporate the two. By putting the playhouse on stilts it gives endless oportunities to build on in stages (or do it all in one swoop). There's the possibility of monkey bars, fireman's pole, sandpit (underneath house). If you have a tree (the bigger the better) in your garden you can start with a Crows nest and then add on a fireman's pole, monkey bars, give the Crows nest a little roof.... the possibilities are really endless....
See below for some of our recent creations...
Anastasia Playhouse: on stilts, with fireman's pole, stable door and extra window.

This Anastasia playhouse was customised by changing the front of the house to a 2,4m length whereas the front of the house is usually 1,8m. By doing this it fitted perfectly into the client well designed garden. They raised the playhouse on stilts, added a firemans' pole and an extra window. The colours of this house were chosen by our client to match in with his property.
An Anastasia playhouse: With ladder & trapdoor leading to the Crows Nest. The Playhouse was raised on 600mm stilts, it had an extra window and stable door. These clients also added on a slide and a rope swing from their tree.

The beauty of this Playhouse and Crows Nest was the amount of children that are calling it home. The client told us the whole family came over and the children absolutely loved it. I can just picture little faces peering out the windows, swinging from the tree and calling out to all those below from the Crows Nest.
Castle Playhouse with trapdoor and ladder onto the roof deck.

This Castle Playhouse was built for the little boy who loved to climb this tree. Now this boy has his very own Castle Fort, complete with a roof deck to climb onto and survey all of his land.
So that's just a little taste.... please keep checking back with us as we always have something interesting on the go.
